Gambler crew and myself had a really good time seeing our customers and meeting with potential new Gambler anglers. The show was busy all three days.
This season, Gambler is also sponsoring with Okuma reel and rod company to premier some their gear on board. They have some great equipment and we are very excited to partner with them.
In the picture attachments below, check out the information about a canyon trip that they will be joining us on --and a chance to win a free canyon trip!
Starting April 1st, Gambler will be running our 10AM till 3PM taug trips, fishing daily except Fridays. This is a fun, relaxing trip and a good way to clear the cobwebs.
On Fridays throughout April, Gambler will run a 24 hour tilefish trip. We had some beautiful big tilefish last year. Looking forward to more of the same.
Last season tilefish, we had very good trips on 6 out of 7. Even the guys that came out for the first time tile-dropping did well --as long as they paid attention and took advice from crew. Method and patience are key. On our tilefish trips, we are focused on quality over quantity. Many of our tilefish last year were in the 20-60lb range.
For these trips, the captain needs to watch the wind report very carefully. Too much wind --over 20 knots-- will most likely cancel a trip.
The trips are limited to 24 passengers or less. There are enough bunks for all. Food will be available on board, or you can bring your own (we have a microwave on our galley counter, which you are welcome to use).
Gambler has a limited amount of new conventional or electric rod and reel available.
Bring a large cooler, sleeping bag, sleeping pad and pillow. Wear boots and bring rain gear.
Please don't hesitate to ask questions.
I'm including some tilefish pictures from last season below.
