Chose today being a light traffic day to take the long ride up to visit the tackle stores that were so kind to donate gift certificates. I won 2 donated gift certificates at the Veterans Round Valley Tournament. I claimed one prize from the Owl's Nest, really cool place, reminded me of the old Efinger's in downtown Bound Brook on Main St. The other prize I claimed was from HI- WAY Sport Shop, another great little shop packed with great stuff. I really didn't need much so I picked up a few things. I got another net, maybe I can pay it forward if I see a youth that would like to try angling using a net. I stopped in Sporting Life on the way home, again great store full of stuff ! A HUGE thank-you goes out to these stores that cater to us 365 days a year. I try not to shop on-line or go to the big "box" stores for fishing equipment. We are VERY lucky to still have some shops around. One observation was the lack of ice fishing equipment on display, just a sign of the times I guess.

We haven't really had sustained ice in two seasons. Calling for 60 degrees tomorrow. Whatever ice was made the last week or so will likely be gone with the warmth and rain. Not stocking ice gear seems pretty smart from an inventory stand point.
