Went fishing in Manasquan Inlet this evening on a cold, sunny day with a moderate northwest wind and incoming tide a day before the full moon. Current was very swift. No boats were in the Municipal Parking Lot yet. Two portajohns were installed at the inlet. Got the last parking spot. A fisherman caught a bluefish in the inlet in front of my car. Went out on the jetty then caught nothing with my Ava and teaser rig. Boats caught blues in the inlet in casting range of my spot. Saw minnows jumping out of the water. Cormorants were fishing nearby. After I moved closer to the beach, then started plugging, a fisherman who was fishing in the ocean moved to my inlet spot, then caught and released two big bluefish with a plug. After I started plugging the inlet after sunset, I caught, tagged and released a 27” 5 lb 13 oz bluefish with a yellow ASalt Bomber on my last cast of the day. When I returned to my car in order to go home, another fisherman showed me a picture of the 17 lb bluefish that he caught on a plug in the surf at night recently.
