Moved to Bridgewater a few months ago and i'm within walking distance to the raritan ! Getting back into freshwater fishing. Caught some smallies and bluegill on tiny torpedos and ned rigs. These were caught from later summer to now. Will be fishing for trout soon, cheers !

Nice catching !!! Keep me posted if you see any illegal dumping or tires in the river. Also I ask everyone (with mixed results) to please press the barbs down when using treble hooks for C&R, or given the chance replace those trebles with single hooks. I have talked to many who haven't lost and fish after pressing down the barbs on the treble hooks, it just saves undue stress on our beloved Smallmouth Bass fishery.
Keep the reports coming in, I try to get up that way as much as possible. There are many spots out of the public eye so lots of water to cover.

I could be wrong, but those look more like Redbreast Sunfish than Bluegills,,, Redbreast are more of a sunfish of rocky streams than bluegills, are readily caught in fall and are typically caught alongside SMB in the same areas.

Noted, I'll make sure to crush all my barbs down ! Appreciate the info.

I haven't seen any trash or unnatural objects in the water, but if I do I'll take it with me and dispose of it.

I did some some people at the bridge harvest what appeared to be a redbreast or juvenile smallie. I am not sure if that's illegal or not but I was not happy to see it. Hoping fish and game patrols the area.
