My buddy and I launched in Liberty State Park around 0600 and headed east.

He picked away at a couple bass and some gator blues on his fly rod while I boated some jersey keeper flukes here in there. We were in NY waters so bad to deal with the 19.5 regs.

1pm hit and it was on like Donkey Kong. Total smack down. We landed 2 at 23.5 and another 4 all at or over 19.5.

It’s about time - driving up and down the GSP all summer in search of fluke and they were on the other side of the Newark Bay extension the whole time!

Tight lines!

JC, nice catch. Fish are schooled up and ready to go. Feed bag is on, but anyone of these next heavy east northeasterly winds and these fish will be headed west with a gauntlet of draggers waiting to scoop them up. Fishery is in the toilet, number of fish and size being caught is way off and for all the reasons noted every season forward will be a down one until the current regulations are changed which appears to be less and less likely each passing year.

Nice catch - I have never went for fluke before. Maybe in the future after reading everyone's input and experiences here.
