Hey first poster here!

I guess I am ClamGuy!

Big time clammer here, always have been and was curious if there were any locals in the area that love clams as much as I do!

Any locals to LBI/Stafford/Barnegat area that are into clamming?

Been a good run this summer so far for the family and I. LBI clams make good eats!

Looking for someone interested one day for a few hours at low tide on LBI.

Thanks!

There was a member here who always posited with his daughter. They clammed quite a bit as well. Haven't seen a post from him in a while, hope everything is ok. Loved his posts and how he was raising his daughter, you could tell they loved the salt and spending time together. To the OP, it seemed like he did a lot of clamming so hopefully he replies to your post. Miss reading his reports.

Hey Broad Bill, thanks for the reply!

That would be cool!

They're so fun to dig up with a rake. I love it because it requires a bit of work and the reward is great every time lol.

It's been real fun this summer on LBI for sure. A few older folks have come up to me and have given me their stories on how they used to dig them with their feet which has been nice to hear. I am not that brave hahaha.

Just did a search. Members handle was flukeyou. Here's a link to a few of his many posts about clamming in New Jersey. If you wanted to, you can do a search for his posts and you'll see quite a few clamming reports or if he's still local you could send him a pm and try connecting that way.

And one of my favorites, not clamming but how happy his daughter Kaylee was in his posts and quite the avid outdoors person. She always had a million dollar smile on her face enjoying nature with her father.

Seemed like a real nice guy, always enjoyed reading their posts and listening to stories about him and his daughter and son. As I said, I hope they're both OK, haven't seen a post from them in quite some time.

Man... how nice, totally appreciate the heads up! I will check those links out with the Mrs tonight.

I'm thinking of doing a video when I go next and posting it haha. See what kind of feedback and maybe I will do more all focused on clams lol

Vid would be awesome. Most people don't realize how great and therapeutic clamming can be in New Jersey. A video I'm sure would be welcomed on the site. It seems like people either love or hate clams either on the half shell or grilled, fried etc. There's no in between. But fresh calms chilled with the right amount of horseradish, a good cocktail sauce, lemon wedge, it's a small piece of heaven. And grilled or steamed with some linguini, olive oil, red pepper flakes, crusted bread, a nice Pinot Grigio, lemon and butter sauce garnished with some fresh parsley......son!!!!!!! It's what dreams are made of:)

LOL I could not agree more about clams!

The way you've described sounds nice.

We've done it before with horseradish and the cocktail sauce with lemon. Never did it with parsley though! Might have to give that a try.

We do raw with malt vinegar, lemon, and a touch of cocktail sauce.

When I go this coming week, possibly Tuesday, I think I am going to try smoking them for a little while and see how that plays out. Always willing to try new recipes for sure haha.

Dave from Beach Haven West had a great clamming year at High Bar Harbor. Tom P. got hepatitis from eating raw clams. I caught a lot of stripers with surf clams back in the good old days.

Yeah I hear you. It's no different than the members who love crabbing on the site. When you're in the mood for crabs or clams, nothing else scratches the itch. Love grilled clams with garlic butter, crisp bacon bits, bread crumb optional, and pimento or roasted red peppers and lemon. Sorta like the attached clams casino recipe. Mouth watering!
