I caught, tagged and released 22 fish 🎣 in Manasquan Inlet this spring and 2 bluefish were recaptured in NY. Looks like early season big blues go to the Manasquan River for food and warmth, then after the water gets too warm, they swim north through the East River and into Long Island Sound for the summer. I really appreciate the fact that 2 NY fishermen took the time and effort to report catching a tagged fish. Releasing a 12.5 lb bluefish with the tag entact was awesome 👏. A lot of recaptured tag fish 🐟 don’t get reported.

Very cool. Makes sense the front runner blues working their way up the coast ducking in and out of the warmer water where the bait fish are. And in the fall, it's the polar opposite, staying in warmer offshore waters when temps start to drop. Pretty amazing how fish will work their way from Sandy Hook into the Hudson and eventually enter the sound.

Good stuff! Has to be very rewarding when you get tags returned.
