Just got back from another great trip in the land of the giants

Headed up to fish with Tracey ,Booner and Rob with Capt Jimmy

Flat seas and a slow drift all day .
great conditions to put a hurting on the flatties.

fish were still sluggish in the cold water.took some extra time getting them to hang onto baits

biggest 2 were 9.8 and 9.2 on the dock

lots of quality fish from 6-8 pounds filling out our 25 fish limit.

threw back another 25 plus keepers .

cool hand fluke

Hammer……..why would the big boys bite up there in 50ish degree water but here they have lockjaw until the water warms Oceanside?

Curious as hell. Thinking about regs and how southern guys want a later start. If that’s the case then why are they banging big fish on the Shoals?

Lots of bait there .
Both squid and tinker mackerel .
We’re also fishing 75-125 depths .
I believe here fish get here ahead of bait .
Instead of going crazy looking for it , they go kind of dormant .
Bait shows up regularly they start to chew .

Back bay been weird this year. For me at least. First 2 weeks of the season was lights out real shallow. Then it turned off like a switch. I’m guessing the first wave of flatties were on the feed and now just waiting for the baitfish to arrive?
