Going to clear this up now before it gets out of hand.....Marijuana is NOT legal on a Federally documented vessel!!

With that being said, DO NOT Smoke that shit on my boat. Don't sneak it in the Bathroom, don't come to the Top deck where it blows into my wheelhouse.

Customers complain, people with children complain, I'm complaining now. I don't want to hear it's for Medical purposes either, do it in your car or where ever else you have to.

It's gotten ridiculous, Sorry but not going to deal with it anymore.
Capt. Ron

what??.. really?.. Is smoking dope THAT important to some people that they can't even enjoy a day on the water fishing without getting high??...Geez even when I used to smoke reefer 45 years ago I would not smoke when I was fishing,, fishing is a contemplative, relaxing, often exciting sport.. Not an opportunity to get your mind bent .... whatever..... bob

I was just looking at the stats and I see marijuana has surpassed alcohol in usage. I do understand on Federal waters though.

The only positive is people who caught nothing actually leave thinking they caught their limit:)

Personally, I never understood the concept of getting blasted while fishing. Before smoking horseshit became all the rage, a lot of people would bring mass quantity of beer on ice to consume while fishing.. probably many still do.. I dunno, kind of spoils the entire "day on the water" vibe/ no?... Might be something that capt Ron as well as all the other party and charter captains will have to discuss and make clear with their fares from now on.. Kind of a shame its come to that really. These days people love their dope.... bob

The ironic thing is marijuana is a great cure for seasickness surpassing ginger, Bonine and Dramamine.

But yes, I'm with the others, there is a time and a place, I also could never figure out the consuming of mass quantities of alcohol while fishing, probably the same people that pack a gigantic cooler of food for a 3/4 day bluefish trip.

As federally regulated captains....ANYONE who has to take the piss test can get screwed for that. EVERY licensed captain has the right to refuse anyone with that. Nobody should tolerate it one iota on the boats.

This is kind of a old new subject.

But what do all the other Party and OUPV captains do? The law applies to every "for hire", not just Ron's.

Back in the day if the Coasties boarded you and found it on ANY BOAT- they could seize that boat.

Correct....working on my OUPV here myself, I don't know how to handle that. Ron isn't going to turn around halfway thru the day and kick that person off though he may want to throw him overboard with a life jacket and bottle of water at best.
Most customers pay after the chartered trip....correct?

Yes and that is why we have so many snowflakes and psychos. 20% of heavy users of skunk weed become psychotic. https://scienmag.com/new-evidence-suggests-link-between-teen-cannabis-use-and-psychotic-disorders-may-be-stronger-than-previously-thought/

Amen! The pot smoking in this country is getting ridiculous.
"Tough times create tough men, tough men create good times, good times create soft men and soft men eventually create tough times."
I would argue as a nation we are between the soft men and tough times as history repeats itself. Today's young kids don't want to work, smoke too much pot and take no responsibility for their own actions. It's a generation of snowflake, cry babies that we are all going to feel the affects one day.

I’ll play Devils Advocate here…….

And for the the record I haven’t smoked in 30 years and have a Class A CDL and get piss tested every 6-8 weeks at my job…….

That being said, weed isn’t looked at as such a taboo thing it once was. Capt Ron I totally get it. Your ride your rules. I don’t allow it on my rec boat either.

I’d rather fish at the rail next to a stoner than the dude that had 3 six packs and a fifth of Jack any day.

Ok, go ahead and trash me now……:p

Quite simple: Capt boat / Capt rules like its always been.

Zero need to go deep into todays society and /or "snowflake" BS as the definition now crosses well into too many areas.

"Snowflake is a derogatory slang term for a person, implying that they have an inflated sense of uniqueness, an unwarranted sense of entitlement, or are overly emotional, easily offended, and unable to deal with opposing opinions."

Not naming but sure most can figure it out and its not a kid:p

What people do before and after is their business. Maybe party boats should put up signs stating "No smoking on this boat". I think people think that it's legal now everywhere. While we are on the subject of smoking having someone upwind of you smoking a cigar or cigarette is not cool either to us none smokers! Just saying! Tight lines!

If getting high is that important why waste money on partyboats? Just stay home ,buy a fishing game for your Xbox, set sail on the SS Lazyboy, and blaze away. Just think how much more cannabis products you can buy !!! You won't break any laws, piss anyone off by being so selfish, or risk a boat owners/crews livelihood.

We live in a world with laws but unlike years ago the laws are no longer enforced. People don't give a s*** about what impact their behavior has on others because there's no consequences for those actions. If stores can be looted and terrorized without repercussion, if police officers can be attacked and the criminals are back on the street the following day, if people need to worry about going to work everyday without being car jacked or assaulted, who honestly believes people are going to stop lighting up because somebody says they can't. This country, due to the current administration, is in an absolute free fall and the topic of this thread is just another validation that the inmates do in fact run the asylum.

coming to a fishing message board and getting lectured about politics, ffs. You just can't escape people forcing their opinions into every damn situation.

This wasn't a post about a fishing report, it was a post about laws being broken and Capt. Ron taking a stance which I happen to agree with. I commented about my opinion why the point of his post is happening more and more in today's world. I wasn't forcing anything on anybody, I was sharing my opinion. It's not like there hasn't been numerous political opinions posted on this site before. If either of you or anyone else has a problem with my post, pm me and I'd be more than happy to discuss it offline.

that's exactly what I come to this board for, to answer my burning question "what is broad bill's opinion on society, and I wonder how he will be able to inject his opinion into a discussion about regulations on a fishing boat???"
