Gambler was out on her first tilefish trip of the season yesterday.
What was supposed to be 15knt winds and 4ft seas, turned out to be 20knt Easterly with 7ft seas. The morning was slow-going but then we started finding them. It was tough, with 4lbs of lead, but everyone stuck with it and they caught some really nice Goldens. Most were quality 20-30lbers. A few were in the 40+ range. As the fish were reeled within 20ft of the boat, they looked like under-sea flying saucers.
Most guys had two fish. High hook had five --two of which were over 40lbs (His first time for tilefish).
If you have never been tile-fishing, and are interested, the Gambler is the boat for you. If you are an expert tile-fisherman, you will not be disappointed.
We have limited, premium rental gear available to rent on board --please inquire our office.
Two more Tilefish trips are scheduled: Leaving Friday, May 10th at 11PM and Tuesday, May 14th leaving 11PM.
Gambler starts 3/4 fluke on Sunday and 3/4 day fluke/sea bass on the 17th
