Grandson and I hit Prospertown Sunday evening. Grandson caught one Trout and a small Bass on a cast master and I caught zilch. Still great to be out with grandson. Tried powerbait, mouse tails, and crappie jigs/ nymphs to no avail. The light rain on the glass surface of the water was like so many little explosions and Grandson Chris getting the first Trout of the year was the highlight of our trip.
Arrived at 8:00am (late for me) this morning to find three people fishing on the dam. Went to my spot and put out powerbait. It was flat calm and there was a bit of a glare off the water. I could see the heads of numerous turtles sticking out of the water like so many periscopes across the lake. Fish were swirling and Purple Margins were dipping emerging nymphs making splashes on the surface of the lake. The Bald Eagle made an appearance landing in a pine tree just behind the far side of the dam. Another fisherman set up next to me and said good morning. The two fishermen in the corner were picking away with spinners and the guy by the skimmer lost one on the edge of the bank. I got two quick fish on powerbait. The guy next to me dropped a Trout trying to swing it on the bank. I got a third fish on powerbait and switched one rod to a mousetail. Got bit on the mousetail within a minute and dropped a rainbow trying to swing it. Casted out again and left a lot of slack in the line so the fish could take it deeper. Caught my first trout on a mousetail. The#8 mosquito hook was stuck in its throat. Rebaited with the mousetail and put it out. Missed a couple of light bites on the powerbait. Hooked a line puller on the mousetail. After a couple of minutes of runs and some nice jumps I began to wander why I didn't have a net. Wore it down and hand tossed it up the bank. Missed a couple more fish on the mousetail.(learning curve - small hook) I watched a huge Pickerel get caught on a spinner in the corner then watched the line go tight on the mousetail rod. I lifted the rod and felt the drag pulling surge. After a nice jump and a few runs I hand flipped my last Trout up the bank. Limit before eleven. Cooking three for dinner and vacuum bagged the others.
The mousetails in chartreuse/orange on a size8 mosquito hook got bit best. Two foot leader swivel to egg sinker. Rainbow powerbait caught the others. Hope to get out again when the weather cooperates.

Fresh trout you can pull the head back and the skin will come right off, I don't know if that matters to you or not, thanx for the report !
