In the frosting morning breeze, Gambler set out with just 20 die-hard fishermen to hunt striped bass. I didn't take long to find sea-birds pointing us towards the fish, anxious to play. Within a 1/4-mile from the bird-play the fish-finder would light-up.

Our fishermen shrugged off the cold and were rewarded with constant action through-out the day, casting jigs, shads, poppers and spoons. The fish ranged from the 20" to 40". Our friend Dennis also landed a monster bluefish, nearly 18lbs.

Just a couple reminders to all --just take the bass that you need. Take a quick pic, and let the crew get the released fish back into the drink as quickly as possible.

In-between drifts, you get a chance to warm up in our heated cabin. On every trip, the crew cooks up some classy Sabrett hots dogs on warmed buns with kraut and all the fixins', along with other hot food and snacks.

Gambler has virtually everything you could need aboard, including rental rods and lures to buy.

Don't let the west wind or a little rain cause you to miss out. The West wind, even up to 35 knots, will cause the stripers to bite their heads off.

There are plenty of spaces still available right through Saturday. (Sunday is looking booked).

Hope to see you aboard.
