Staten Island Tuna Club will be sponsoring a Blackfish Seminar at
Proving Grounds in the Highland on Nov 8 from 6-9 pm.
It is not by accident that the same guys always seem to be the ones who catch the Double Digit and larger size fish. If you want to up your Tog game and become part of the 20% that catch 80% of the fish then this seminar is for you. You will get a triple play perspective of blackfishing from a Capts point of view (Stephen Rhodes) an anglers point of view (Alex Cortizo/Stephen Rhodes) and a custom Rod Builders point of view (John Rhodes) of proper tackle required under different conditions in targeting these toothy critters
Stephen Rhodes is a close personal friend and one of the most knowledgeable Capt/Fisherman and Best human beings you can ever meet. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge who is willing to share his experiences in an informative and entertaining way. He has been running boats and fishing the world all his life and has been a local resident in NY and NJ so he knows our waters well. When he asked for my help in putting this together I was very hesitant as I rather just do my own thing without drawing any attention to myself as people are always looking to stir the pot and create Drama. Fishing is my Sanctuary and I go fishing to avoid Drama and not be part of it as it is my Happy place and only time my mind is quiet. When a friend ask for help you put your personal feeling aside and just say Yes, what do you need.
Many of you are seasoned Blackfisherman as am I but there is always an opportunity to up your game and learn something new. I have been blackfishing myself for over 30 yrs and am fortunate to get to fish with the best Capts and anglers all up and down the east coast and can honestly say it is because of them that even after all these years last year was my most consistent year for catching especially on those days that the bite and conditions were not favorable. Stay Humble and watch and listen to those who do this everyday and you will become a better angler.
Take advantage of this great opportunity to share information with anglers that share the same Passion as you and maybe pick up one or two things that you can incorporate into your Tog game and make you a more consistent angler.
There will be a buffet dinner served from 6:00- 6:45 pm followed by seminar and question and answer session. I will stay later for those that want help in tying the right rigs for the right situations. There will be a 50/50 as well as $1000 dollars in tackle that will be raffled off. I also will have blackfish stickers that I got from Ron from Togaholics Anonymous for those interested in purchasing
To join event make sure to try to purchase your ticket in advance by scanning QR code on flyer enclosed or by calling Chip 201-390-6544 or Chris 973-634-7764 or email: situnaclub@gmail.com as they need an accurate count for food and seating for this event.
