Started off fishing in the Deal area with my son Brendan. Casting plugs in the dark 6:00am. At false dawn big bass found the mullet. Landed 2 fish on surface plugs, 1 was 42 inches and the other was 36. Bite died and took a ride to Asbury. Spoke to a guy coming off the beach relaying that there was bait, but no fish to be had. Tried anyway. My son hooked into a good fish on his second cast, lost it 2nd guessing if he should lip it or not. Lesson learned. The fish was definitely in the range of over 40 inch . Called it quits before the rain came. Figured New moon just prior to a Northeast front would have the striped ones chewing and we were right. Great day with my son.
