This time we let ourselves get interviewed and answered questions sent in by viewers/listeners... one question asked us if we had to choose only one, fresh or salt.... sorry we both picked fresh 😅 it would really suck to only pick one though. Link below:

Can’t believe ya both picked fresh.
With the variety, size and taste of saltwater fish and fishing, I’d think that choice would be a no brainer.
…….and let the debate begin:D

Well variety was the main reason we did pick freshwater. Two of the stipulations were money was no object and specifically the tristate area. At any given time there's much more variety freshwater. Too many times during the year there are only a few species available saltwater. There are a few other reasons, I could go on but that's the main reason for my choice. It'd still be torturous to have to give up either one though haha

I think both have their merits for me. On the SW side, you never know what you’ll catch or see and there’s something about being on the sea. One the fresh side there’s something very simple about the solitude and scenery you get fishing in a stream or a lake by yourself that keeps on calling me back. Thankfully we have opportunities for both and I have to tell you that float trip on the Delaware for Smallies I did with Mike K was one of my favorites of all time.

I'm with you buddy... I'd probably chop off a leg before I gave up either one haha

Gerry, did you ever float the West Branch or the upper mainstem for Trout or Smallies on the Delaware? If you go in the spring throw in a chance to catch a Shad or two. There's some Walleye too.
Peace and solitude....Amen

Camped for a week up in Roscoe NY a few years ago and did my first ever float trip on the West Branch Wilson. This is what got me so jazzed about float trips. Very relaxing, comfortable and effortless way to fish, especially for lazy older people like me... Not a fly guy so we fished spinners for brown trout and caught a few. If I knew they had a good Smallie fishery, I would have opted for that but the guy I split the boat with went up there to specifically target the browns.
We wade fished the Beaverkill too but the water was very low and since we were there at the tail end of spring, the water was probably a little too warm and fishing was really slow.
Beautiful country up there in the Catskills for sure and lots of remote places to hike and fish..
