RIP Capt. Joe Galluccio

Just learned that Capt. Joe Galluccio (Former Sea King - Belmar) passed away over the weekend. Rest in Peace Capt. Joe, you were of the best!:(

I remember fishing on The Sea King years back with my Dad. That was my Dad's favorite Fluke boat. We always did pretty good. He was a good Capt. RIP Capt Joe!

Condolences to Capt. Galluccio and family. I remember the Sea King well, great fluke boat.

Don't know if anyone else remembers this but believe it happened in the 70's and was reported in the Star Ledger. I'll never forget the report and almost positive it was the Sea King. Early fall, Septemberish trip, big fluke were feeding up before starting their offshore migration and the Sea King hit the motherload of all motherloads of fluke. Remember this was when most boats fished the sand dragging bait and fishing structure with jigs wasn't on the drawing board yet. On one trip, they boated 40 or more fluke over 8 lbs. with a number over 10. Think the biggest went 13 plus.

This was before most people realized the big girls hung in the rough stuff offshore, would come in and feed heavy when the mullet run started and bait fish started pouring out of the bays making their inshore southerly migration. The big females would come in shallow for a few weeks, feed heavy and then head offshore. Never forget that report and don't think we'll ever see anything like it again at least in local waters. Anyone else remember the report?

Joe was a gentleman, I worked on the boat alongside and he was always a pleasure to be around. Saw Joe a few years ago and he was fishing with the Forysthes on Bobby boat. I had Lew Fromkin with me and the 2 old captains reminisced about old times.
