Kingfish

Anyone else seeing little to no kings this year in South Jersey. Since Memorial Day I have seen about 20 caught from everyone I see targeting. Granted , the conditions havent been great most days with South winds, rough surf and upwelling but seems real strange.

haven't been down but reports say they're in the AC area. I usually do best in August & september

Kings are one of those species that you just never know what will happen any given year.. Similar with Croakers, Spots, Blowfish, etc,,, Some years they are everywhere and can be caught on anything... Other years they just don't show up in any kind of numbers, and they aren't taken regularly... Porgies can even be like that,,, One year they are everywhere, big and easily caught, then a year later, only a fraction... Don't know why that happens, but I just know it does happen and always has... We have all seen years when Fluke were tough to find, and then the next year they are everywhere.. just happens.... bob
