Took my 81 year old brother Joe fishing 🎣 in Manasquan Inlet this evening on a warm, sunny day with a strong west wind and incoming tide before the new moon. A spear fisherman said that he shot a fluke and bluefish. Nobody was in my spot. I was able to fish 🎣 there in 17 of my 20 trips this year. Missed a hit with my Ava and teaser rig. Saw a big twin engine air boat go north on the ocean. Took a pic. Caught, tagged and released a 16” sea lice bluefish with my plain hook Ava A-17. Brother Joe then started casting and caught and released a bluefish in the inlet over the fence with a metal. I saw a surf fisherman catch a striped bass. A brown pelican flew south over the ocean. Oystercatchers were flying as well as osprey. I caught, tagged and released bluefish (45) on my last 12 trips to the inlet.
