I dunno... Look a bit past prime time to me... however that goes for just about any "fresh fish" these days.

Been cooking and cleaning fish for over 40 years now, I kinda know what I'm looking at, even worked deck on a party boat. I won't buy bleached fish from Shop Rite.

Well Andy ,Maybe need to learn to catch some then . (40 year fisherman should have all the fish he could ever eat all cleaned up and chamber sealed to enjoy in the winter months )
And could have bled them so they tasted better in the end process .
LOL

I could never understand throwing fresh fish in the freezer. Even after offshore sea bass trips I would cook every fillet, even if it meant setting up at the local church, most times I just invited all my neighbors over. Never froze a tuna steak either, same thing, we set up grills and picnic tables and invited the whole block over for fish, even set up a "raw bar".

Freezers preserve food so you can use it later. It's an alternative to salting/smoking/pickling techniques that our ancestors used to use. So, during the summer you can freeze some, and then this time of year you don't have to support the bottom draggers to have a fluke dinner.

Fish that’s chamber sealed the day it’s caught is just as fresh when taken out of the freezer .
Take the bag and put it in a container of water for just five minutes . It’s thawed and ready to cook .
.fluke and sea bass are two of the best freezing fish there are from our local waters .

most anything thats white and non oily freezes fine.. except Ling.. They still taste good, but man they get super mushy when frozen..
I don't like Porgies frozen either .. anything that has any dark meat at all... yuck

Nothing like a chamber sealer Dan!
The original purchase is pricey , but the savings on the bags are huge in comparison to food saver bags .
And a chamber sealer works 5 times better .
After its first season the bag savings pay for it .
Also the ability to seal liquids is also a great feature .
Fish is absolutely as fresh after frozen as it was when caught .
.
We eat fluke , sea bass , blackfish, mahi all throughout the year .

I never knew much about a chamber sealer. What would be a good one to purchase thanks.

Odd question. They are illegal to have on the boat... but do they sell the white fluke bellies? Likely they just toss them at the filleting table.
