Long day down in coal mining country. Stopped & got some beautiful minnows at Sharkys shop . First stop went to the old crappie hole, 1st cast dev gets a nice largemouth, then a solid perch. We could see schools of largemouth just chilling waiting to crush incredible amounts of bait. We landed a few more perch but not a crappie to be found & the bass had lockjaw.
Decided to go to a new spot called shaw mill pond. Absolutely destructive yellow perch fishing. Giant schools of shad/alewife 🤷*♂️ swimming & it was every cast for 2hrs minnows & jigs anywhere from 5inch fish to foot long beauties. Dev also jumped off two small trout & I lost what looked to me like an absolute pig smallmouth. Kept ripping the 2lb test back to bottom before hook pulled. Only thing I know that fisghts like that are smallies 7 hybrids but i guess it coulda been a big salmonid too unfortunately I'll never know.
Once that slowed up went to pickle pond for some esox, then hit the crappie drop on way home & finally got some sacalait & dev got that bass with the goofed up fins. She also lost a pig of a largemouth looked close to 4-5lbs. Awesome day out.
* BE CAREFUL IT IS NOVEMBER BUT THE DEER TICKS WERE OUT IN FORCE TODAY. DEET IT UP & CHECK YOSELF!
