headed offshore the other week and looked like we caught the tail end of a pre-sunrise bite according to the other boat in the area. we put out the spread and after a while of searching for spread out fish, both far port side rods go off at the same time and we proceeded to try to avoid an absolute disaster hooked up with two 70lbs class fish. there was a small hiccup at the end involving a gaff ripped out of the captain's hand, but we got the gaff back and landed both fish so all's well that ends well haha.

after that, the bite seemed to really be over so we found schools of mahi on pots but found them to be extremely picky and only landed one on bait and none on lures.

we then hit the tile spots, only to find those fish pretty tight lipped as well, but we did manage a handful for the boat.
