We started the day off with a nice big crowd of customers for the last Sunday of August. We were heading back to where we caught the big fish in the ocean yesterday. We got about a mile and a half into the ocean but it was just too rough and we had to turn around go to Plan B. We steamed to Coney Island. There were a couple of other party boats fishing there. The conditions were nice, but there weren't fluke there. We only caught one keeper fluke. We didn't waste too much time there and decided to get the hell out of there and fished the edge of the Sandy Hook Channel and had one great drift for about 20 minutes with fluke flying over the rail and the nets were moving. We had 14 keeper fluke and probably 30 to 40 short fluke. I thought it was going to be an easy day, but that wasn't the case. We went back to make another drift and we had the strong outgoing tide against the hard east wind and couldn't drift. We were just rolling our balls off. Now for the last hour and a half we are struck in the bay with absolutely no life. I'm going to pass on sailing tomorrow (Monday). I just feel like there is going to be a roll on the ocean tomorrow and that could hamper the fishing of where we want to fish. We'll be back at it Tuesday. A lot of the regulars are coming on Wed. That is going to be a really nice day. We had a total of 15 keeper fluke for the day. It was a very long, boring, slow day.
