Yikes, how'd you deal with that??
Quick yank out, string around bend, and pull backwards?... ER visit? Walk in clinic? Did you cry? I would have...

Lmao. Cry? No. Being extremely pissed at my stupidity is more like it.

Watching YouTube videos over the years of hook removal actually paid off. The line around the hook bend method worked very well. Ain’t gonna say it didn’t sting a bit but at least saved an ER visit and didnt have to cut the trip short.

Getting it out without a helping hand was a little difficult. My hatred of dogfish has grown steadily over the last month :p

ugh.. 68 YO here, and fishing since I was a little kid.. never had one in past the barb. {Thank You Lord}... I have read the string around the bend is the best method, and thats what I would do if the need ever arises.. Glad it wasn't more of a problem, but I still think in my case, i would cry,,, Yes those endangered horn dogs are miserable, and everybody hates them....

Sorry you got stuck, but happy you got it out w/o problems. I got a kahle hook in my thumb past the barb, and struggled to get it out. I had to go to local emergency walk in in PP. I had my wife bring my strong flat blade pliers with cutter on the side. When the Dr. got her tools out she had a forceps that was bending all over, but not pushing the hook through. Then she tried to cut the hook with a tiny wire cutter. I provided the proper tool, and had to squeeze the wire cutter, as she was not strong enough to do it. Then she wanted me to give her my tool......I asked if she was going to charge me for the visit and she said " of course " Well, my answer was to give one of her people $65.00 and send them to Fisherman's Supply. Had a sensitive thumb for awhile, but I'm back and hoping it was a once in a lifetime event....lol
