Whats going on Peeps
Just had a new custom bogan rod built and looking for spinner reel recommendations. Wondering what everyone likes or suggests. It will run 4 to 8 oz sinkers/jigs and be mostly used for fluking . I like the Penn Battle III's and Penn battles in general , what do you like use and/or suggest
Thanks in advance

I use the Penn battle 111 on my spinning rod I have had the reel for 2 years now and love it... although I have heard some horror stories about this reel being its all plastic parts breaking on it but I haven't ran into that problem yet and for the price of the reel can't go wrong good luck

Congratulations on the new rod.
Buy the Penn Battle III or the Daiwa BG.

You are a hack and can't catch a fluke so what does it matter, haha. I like the Penn Battles, have three of them but agree with the durability. I just ask Santa for a new one when the time comes, maybe buy myself one for Christmas in July if needed.
Good luck and good job with the Custom Bogan, I have three and love them. Maybe he can make you a custom clam rake for you that helps you find them, :)

I like the Daiwa BG spinning reels. I think about the same price as Battle III. I used a BG3000 reel to land stripers up to 34" with no problem. I know someone who has used the 3000 for black fishing. I also bought a BG4000. The 3000 would be a nice size for fluke. Look up the Alan Tani website for a full tear down review of the BG. He highly recommends from a mechanical point. (It is the large BG I think the 6000 and he cautions that the smaller reels are built slightly different.)

I’ve got a few friend using the BGs and they’re getting great service from them.

As far as the clam rake I dont need to much help with that - I have a custom one , it is the 5 finger googan special , its reel and glorious

Hey Feerless leader - what does your slightly less handsome brother use , I asked him a couple of years ago but forgot
Thanks for the feedback everyone and that is kind of the consensus going around between the Penn and Diawas - gonna check em out in person in a week or 2
Keep the suggestions coming and thanks for the help Peeps

Is that the rod Keith is going to use at the PP Elks tourney? Make sure you give him plenty of rigs and gulp to go along with it. He doesn't need a reel:p

Hey George,,,, ^^^ 18 lbs drag, weighs little. I use the 2500 for everything in NJ: stripers, tog, fluke. You can use mine @ Elks tourney,,, comes in Jet Green and they're discounted too...
