Fluke fishing has been off-and-on this past week. A few hard blows from the South cooled the water temps from 68f to 55f overnight. And a couple days there was a pretty big swell.
The Gambler has been trying a lot of different spots --North, South, East, in close and out deep. We are getting some over 18s up to 5+ lbs, a fair amount of slot sized fluke, a few nice sea bass and even some red hake. The fish are definitely there, but they get sluggish when it's such a drastic drop in temp. Still, it seems that most trips, a few anglers can catch their limit.
By the time this is being written, fluking could easily get hot again.
I am thankful that we can keep a couple sea bass per man, now.
Our Nite Wreckin trips have been a little off this season so far. We are catching some ling and keeper sea bass, just not big numbers --yet. Hopefully that will change by Thursday night.
Hope to see you aboard
