5/28- solo mission. Candlesticks, south to SHR, Snake and back north to BTC’s. Never got anything good going. Picked and picked. Mini cbass wrecking the gulp tails. Had a limit, but with these new regs that ain’t saying much. Thought I’d outrun the weather at noon. Uh yeah, not so much, my back still hurts :D

5/29- 8 am hi, so waited to start on the outgoing. Rockaway, Coney, Roamer then tried the back. S-load of salad in the water. The one bait dragger with us bailed the 16” fish. Again, a few flatties for the box. ESE came up harder than I thought it would and called it day.

Ran into some crazy marks just north of Roamer. Literally had drop and reel herring for 20 minutes hitting anything shiny. Never experienced that before. Like old school Boston Mack fishing.

No color gulp better than the next. Chrome BT heads seem to hook up more than the rest. Surface temps up to 67. Passing the 1/2 day boats on way out and in didn’t see many nets moving.

Great stuff Duff. Herring blitz, no stripers on 'em? Happy holiday. . .

No marks under the herring. But to be honest we never thought of dropping one down or breaking out the spoons. It was definitely a wtf moment when we were hooking up.

Always good to see schools of herring.

Hope you kept some of those herring. Not only do they make good chunk bait for bass/bluefish but when filleted and salted (to toughen them up some) they make excellent fluke bait.
