Just curious how often you guys with egg beaters are changing them.

I’m a maintenance nut and do everything by year, not necessarily by hours. Pulled the lower unit today and once it was apart I was surprised at how good it looked. Honestly looked like the impeller could have gone another 3 seasons.

This one has about 380 hours on it. Sucked up sand more than once when we beach it to barbecue.

Definitely not a cost issue or a “is it worth it” question. Just questioning how long would this impeller actually last?

I run mine for 2-3 years which ends up around 350-500 hours. They have similar wear to your pictures. I replace the housing and all parts when I do.

How much longer would they go for? With the increasing prices on maintenance parts its very tempting to try.

Like you, I'm a maintenance fanatic.
I replace mine every spring. The few bucks for the impeller and case far out-weigh the possibility of overheating offshore when the fish are hungry.

I'll find out this December. Haven't had to change them yet but this will be 3 years and over 300 hours.

Funny. Water pumps are always working great. Until they are not.

I have a small 25 Merc used for crabbing. I put about 80 hours a year on it. And it's 17 years old. Still original water pump.

That's way over a 1000 hours and still ticking. Go figure!
