I'll be in Hallandale Beach, FL for few weeks in February and would love to jump on an open or charter boat to do some local fishing one day during the weekend.
I'd greatly appreciate suggestions on where to look for a boat, which species are common in February, etc.

Many thanks in advance!

There are lots of party/charter boats in that area as Hallendale is close to Ft Lauderdale, Hollywood, Pompano Beach, even Miami... Can't recommend anyone but if it were me, I would research well as those areas are tourist traps, and some of those boats have reputations of being more of a boat ride than a real fishing trip... Might be a good idea to get on a forum that deals with Florida fishing, and see where the locals go out of and which boats they go out on.... bob

It depends on what you mean by an open or charter boat. Some boats have charter patrons who may or may not be able to fill out a full charter. They may have two or three people on their charter and might want to take on an additional person to help share the expenses. You have to ask at the dock. There may be some open boats that just take on customers as an advertised open charter similar to those around here. The other choice would be a "drift" boat, much like the party boats you may be used to in N.J. and the Northeast.

Avoid the party boats. Unfortunately, they suck. Bait - old. If you aren't traveling, rentals are in extremely poor condition. Not quite like it is up here. Those boats are on the water practically every day of the year and they dont invest in bait/tackle like the boats do up here. Go private / shared charter.
