TUNA IN THE SNOW...Capt. Bob took us to a shot of water between the Hudson and Toms starting a drift in 750' on an extremely slow westerly drift---started by a pot/high-flyer;1/2 hr. later still in sight. First fish on, a sword but lost after 15 minutes. Then a football YF---H2O is 60.5*--what are you doing still here? Made a total of 4 moves (I think) over the duration of our endeavors to catch.
3 spots were successful for a total of 7 tuna--6 YF's, 1 LF (pool fish). 5 tuna caught after daybreak. Only 1 bird? WTF! just the opposite of last trip!!! I'm not complaining--went 1/1; got the last YF (35-40*) in at 12:45 this PM. I think all but one were caught on bait- butterfish, 1 on a sardine. Also, 3 goldens and 2 blue lines were caught along with doubles on spiny dogs. Only one runoff by 2 anglers on one blue shark--a couple were seen cruising. After a very nice weather condition at night and early AM, a very light breeze started and soon became as NOAA had forecast--10 to 20 and building seas with rain; the Pleasant Damsel was kicked out by the Nasty Lady--probably quite snotty out there now. Very little current to start, 3 oz straight down 60-70' before being picked up in the current to, at trips end when 8 oz would act like a flat line. We do, however, thank King Neptune for the weather window for one last Hurrah. Very nice to end the late season tuna trip with a plus.
Kudos to Capt. Bob for making a successful one last tuna trip and to the crew, Nico, John and Chris for all they do, always appreciated.

Very nice report man. Good to see you getting your tuna after paying your dues last few seasons. Well deserved!

I forgot---On the lighter side, although it didn't snow while fishing, it was when we got back in and mates cleaned tuna in the snow---so, in my mind (fuzzy as it is) that qualifies...LOL

Thanks for the report, Chuck Ironman Eaton. Always good to fish with you. And thanks to the great guys and gals for a terrific canyon season on the Gambler. With the exception of a couple tough trips, it was really good, old-school canyon fishing this year. We saw yellowfin, longfin, mahi, swordfish, golden tiles, blueline tiles, jacks, makos, marlins and squids. Every trip was a great adventure. Last year was good too. Hopefully this will be a continuing trend.

Chuck, you forgot to mention that Captain Bob made you go inside and put on your slickers:p Capt Greg would never forgive me if you got the chills :D

Everybody in the know, knows that!! Oh, and also, just received new set of light-weight slickers--surveyed old set I was told to put on [slicker pants (which I did)]. Bob, I still have my HH's which I'll wear in heavier rain.
