Our swan song today as we need to be out of the marina by next week for dredging.

Decided no way we were trolling today, so rigged up some shads, spoons and poppers. Headed east early casting on bunker pods with nada. Back west at the start of the outgoing to a fleet of boats on round shoal. Bunker everywhere and not a bent rod in sight. Crazy amount of boats with NJ,NY,PA and yes a CT represented!!!

Decided to get the hell out of the mess and went shallow and found the fish. Hearing of everyone catching 30-40-50 pounders (in the reports anyway) yet we managed to find the 26-28 inch bass. Followed a single bunker pod for almost 2 hours picking bass on the outskirts of the school the whole time while being all alone. A hooked bass was followed up to the boat by 2-3 others.

Bass were keyed in on one particular shad color we had for some reason. Spoons and poppers did zip. All released happy and healthy.

Insane amount of bunker in the bay. Water temps 63 east up to 66 in the back.

Pulled her onto the trailer and called it a season. On to tog season.

Thank you for posting this! Fishing has dried up by me, looks like it was a great day!

Great report. I was out by the fleet of boats for a short amount of time also. Just too crowded for me. Better off finding your own fish like you did. My Dad use to say "Boats attract boats" and today that was the case. All the boats make the bass scatter! I hope you had a great year. See you back at the barn next year! Tight lines!
