Gambler's half day fluke/sea bass trips were mostly good, right up through Saturday morning. Some nice keepers and sea bass coming over the rails, kept our fishermen and crew busy with the nets. The Gambler is headed out again now, with Capt Mike at the helm, so we'll soon see if the waves and run-off affected the action.
On our night trips, the ling have moved off into deeper water. We are still catching a few, but it has turned more to blue fish and sea bass. Just to confirm, we are still working over rocks and wreckage, even while we are catching blues, so you have a chance to do both or or stick to one.
The last night trip we made, a few of the guys that fiished for squid --did well! We do not have squid gear aboard, so pick up squid jigs from your favorite tackle shop and bring a light spinning rod to go with them.
After labor day, the Gambler will switch over to 3/4 day fluke fishing, leaving at 8AM and returning by 2:30PM, until the end of fluke season.
Our offshore tuna trips will start right after fluke season. Trips are booking fast, so make your plans now.
For the present time, the Gambler is running at half-capacity for your comfort and safety.
Hope to see you aboard
