The fluking has been good on most trips for the last week and a half. The fish are on the move, swimming out of the rivers and bays into cooler water --and they are hungry. The percentage of keepers is up with a 5+ lb fluke usually winning the pool. Limit catches have not been unusual. We've had a couple 7lbers this week, with Joe Collins currently leading Gambler's Monthly Fluke derby. Today was all fluke but yesterday morning we had just about limited on big sea bass too.
The water has been a beautiful turquois lately. Seeing and catching some exotics, occasionally.
Our night trips have been seeing more bluefish and less ling lately, although, on Thursday night, we saw a good amount of sea bass. On our night trips, we will continue to fish over rocks and rough bottom, although it may be more blues than bottom fish.
The Gambler has been running at 50% capacity for the 2021 season, for your comfort and safety.
Now's the time! Don't miss it.
