Got my hands on my first vessel, simple canoe, bought used off FB Marketplace so no receipt nor any idea how to get it registered for a trolling motor.

First real trip is out for Muskie and skunked but had a great strike/near jump from one right on the side of the canoe.

First fish is officially a SMB from monksville. I couldnt find much outside of some bluegill and young 5 inch largemouth. That place got mobbed with paddlers!

Took it out down south for snakes,
I started with a buzzbait, 4 nice hits from snakes but none hooked up, good ones too. Maybe hitting the blade only. Switch to a EWG swimbait and that finally stuck for my first. Was able to watch chris mop up and hog all the fish otherwise. :D congrats on his PB (ill let him post pic) Mixed were some dink largemouth bass + 1 fatty largemouth chris got.

Want someone to fillet those Snakes and tell me how good they are.

Try Split Rock.

Nice fish. To register you have to get a hull number and go to DMV. Its usually on most boats. If not you go to a State Trooper barracks and get it inspected and they will issue a number. That's how I did it back in the day not sure about now though? Maybe you can do it online.

canoe is lots of fun. You should be able to get HIN inspection at state police. not sure how that is happening during covid. ive had it done a lake hopatcong SP and Newark Bay SP locations.

Looks like a good time. Another species I've yet to target as well. Nice catches guys!

I feel like the maiden voyage should have involved muddy tires

Saw 3 people and a dog launch a canoe in Carnegie Lake Sunday evening and it immediately flipped over. I’ll make a video next time.

Good luck with the new canoe, but I'm a ljttle sad that I know your local reports will soon come to an end. Guess I might have to actually take my rod out and see if anything is around.

lol im still fishing around there on occasion, no huge SMBs other than a thick 16 incher from a south branch tributary :D . Ned rigs or weightless worms, then panfish jigs on the way back downstream to cleanup on all the sunnies that pestered me.
