Congrats on the run of big fish, great work. Weighing a fish that big by the gill plate with no support has inherent risks. They sell fish slings like the one shown in the attacked link that straddles the fish from underneath and then you can use the hook scale to attach to the sling for an accurate weight. Same result but fish isn't absorbing all it's considerable weight by it gill plate causing possible damage to it's gills. These things cost next to nothing and greatly increase the chances of a safe release for a trophy fish.

Legit question. We had others last week over 50 lbs and weighed them as well. It registered over 50lbs., we still don’t know how high the scale will go. Granted, we knew she was the biggest we saw, took a shot and that’s what we got. Amazing fish over 60 lbs nonetheless and to land her is a great accomplishment for the angler and crew. Good luck.
