Yesterday I lost my brother to cancer, as it was expected the finality sometimes is worse than the process which is where i find myself.

Fisherman/ women:
We are a fine sort and many of our trips include:
- the initial discussion / plan
- the anticipation / discussions of the date planned
- the weather checks (now at my age the dock river tide checks to see how easy or hard to board the boat LOL)
- the reports but who really cares as you are going anyway so your date WILL be better!
- the years of discussion of past and future trips

Bottom Line is its all Great and I shared that with my brother for many years which I will always cherish.
Like most we were far from perfect together in life, family issues etc but come the fishing day we were one in the same as you leave the crap behind.

In clearing my sadness and saying goodbye he WAS / IS a steward of the sea, a fisherman that fish would respect, a fisherman that any fisherman would respect and a brother I respect.

Fair Winds at your back, calm seas and i will miss you.

Dave I knew your brother was battling medical issues, so very sorry to hear of his passing. It's never easy but after reading your post, it's obvious you're a better person having him in your life as he was for having you in his. In the end, the memories keep us going and allow us to keep loved ones where it matters most, in our hearts and in our minds. He'll always be with you my friend. May he rest in peace, condolences for your loss and we'll keep you and your family in our prayers.

Sorry to hear this Dave, my thoughts and prayers to you and your family...

Your words add a lot of perspective. Although what seems like wasted motion like planning dates, endless phone calls are we going or not, did they bite yesterday can be tiring and seem distracting, they're another opportunity to talk with your buds. We're all not going to be around forever and they'll come a time when we'll miss those calls...

From myself and family we cant thank you enough for all the kind words and support. It means a lot. You ALL validated my post of being a "fine sort" that goes for fisherman/ women and just good people.
I know most of you personally and have fished with many of you. Again you reached out when we were down and lifted us! Thanks it wont be forgotten.

Yet again this site Gerry created is much more than a fishing site but a hand in need and a brotherhood of many good people.

See you soon on the water!
