Friday night's magic hour trip was slow, unfortunately. We had freshly netted bunkers and chunked a few different areas. We found very good readings of bass and bait but the fish were not cooperative. By the time we got into overtime more than a few customers had given up. One had not and Matt was rewarded for his patience and diligence with a beautiful 37" striper. Never surrender!
Our open boat bottom trip yesterday was a pick. Decent short life with the Tog but not too many keepers. Some nice cod were caught along with a smattering of ling. We were not helped by the hungry ocean which claimed not one but two of our anchors. We always carry back up so it wasn't a total loss but man, it was one of those days.
Today and tonight are a wash out and tomorrow's open boat bottom marathon looks to be the same.
We will likely be running a last chance blackfish/bottom fish marathon on Friday, the last day of the Spring blackfish season. Check the open boat forum for updates.
