Well I forgot the swim shads at home along with the umbrella rigs. That's what happens when you pack tired and don't re-check everything in the morning. As a result we didn't have a single bite after 4 hours of pulling plugs and divers. On the plus side the weather was beautiful and I did get to watch some fishermen in other boats catch a few on what else.. umbrella rigs and jigging shads. Oh well, them's the breaks...

Didn't make it all the way there, but it doesn't surprise me. The weekday crowds post-pandemic are just as bad as the weekend crowds used to be pre-pandemic. I will say this though, everyone seems much calmer on the water. Maybe it's just me but others seem to be enjoying themselves more/less stressed. I used to see a lot more screaming and yelling between boats fishing in fleets as lines inevitably get run over. It's much more chill, and I like that. Again, maybe it's just me.

Takes a real fisherman to admit avoidable mistakes.
I did a shark tournament trip out to Glory Hole from Leonardo. It was someone else's boat and captain gave everyone had a job to bring.
After setting up our drift, Rigging the rods, and then while setting the different mackerel depths The balloon guy (who had hundreds and hundreds of balloons all different sizes" ) announces he left them on his kitchen table.
Lets just say it did not go as planned and my last trip with this Captain. But we exercised kindness and did take him back to the dock that day. LOL

Capt Frank Too Funny! On a similar Shark trip adventure we left in tough conditions, had to ride out in a bigger boats wake headed for the triple wrecks.
About half way there slugging through I asked my buddy / captain where he stored the chum so i could start prepping. Response was Holy S--t forgot the chum! Needless to say we turned back but did salvage the day using mackerel strips for fluke after we dropped off a sea sick buddy. Slammed the fluke just outside MI and gaffed the keepers with a shark hook taped to a rod blank as we didnt have a fluke net!

I personally have filled boats to the brim a time or two using that "technique".. Boat all backed down the ramp, taking my time putting tie downs in truck, getting gear in boat, then notice its full to the gunnels!
GREAT fun winching it back on the trailer to drain out..Feels like its made of cast iron.
These days, I put the plug in at home,,, always.... bob

Had a sea tow job on a Mayday call from another boat off Shrewsbury #1 can. Lucky for him I fish while awaiting sea tow work, not stay at base 5 miles away up the Shrewsbury River by #10-11 buoys
Launched from AHMM ramp - 20-22 foot CC. No plug.
All is well.... Bilge pump kept up while drifting until it was dead battery time. Then fishing in puddles on the floor. Lift deck hatch and OH SH*T moment the bilge is full of water. Grab the VHF and inhuman screeching comes out on Ch 16 due to dead battery.
They yell to another boat to call in May Day. We saved them. I was less than 5 minutes away by TC Buoy. Drain plug was left on truck's dashboard I/F/O speedometer so as not to forget it.
At least you didn't forget to put in the drain plug :)

Bilge pump running the entire time they are drifting until it killed the batts??!! What am I missing here? How do you not notice the water discharge from the thru hull? I can see on a larger vessel but on a 22 CC?

I had a certain marina out of Belmar leave the plug out of my boat which was rack stored there. My son who was 10 at the time and I headed out to the ocean and started to drift for fluke. All of a sudden both bilge pumps are on. I open a hatch and look in the bilge and it full of water. I start the engine up and was able to get it up on plane and most of the water drained out. Once I got in the inlet I had to slow down and the water was filling up again. I got to the marina and docked the boat and ran and told them that they left the plug out and I was taking on water. They acted like it was no big deal getting my boat out of the water and took their sweet time. Meanwhile my boat was sinking. I was angry to say the least. That was my last season there. So make sure the plug is in even if you are on a rack and if the plug is left out if you get her up on plane it will drain out. Tight Lines

A friend of mine towed his boat and joined us camping in MD.... We go to launch the boat, I drop him in and take his truck and trailer and park it in the lot...
I come back to the dock to jump on but before I do I notice he's sitting a little low... He lifts up his engine hatch and sure enough water's pouring in because he forgot the drain plug and he tells me it's up in the truck in a cup holder.
I tell him to leave the dock and ride around up on plane to get the water drained out until I get back with the truck and trailer...
We did just that and likely saved his boat...
Needless to say he'll never forget that drain plug again and I remind him about it all the time :)

Beats me Duff what they were thinking. My guess it sounds and discharges water just like a livewell. The guys at the transom I was handing pumps to seemed kind of clueless.
