They are here and you dont need a boat! Actually, we've caught more than most boats! My buddy and I each caught ~15 each most were 22'-31'....landing 30 bass in less than 3 1/2 hours. Ended up with 4 over 28" AND every single fish was released healthy. We left them biting. At times, a fish was on every other cast. Hopefully a sign of very good things to come.

If your going to black out landmarks then why even post the report??? Like you just discovered the hope diamond... Fish are in 1 area today and another tomorrow. Glad you caught though. Tight lines

Plugs or bait? The day I start blacking out my photos is the day I stop giving reports. Thought this site was to help each other out. I post what I used, how deep, what color was hot, water color and temp etc... I get it for sponsors but everyone knows where they are too 90% of the time. Whatever floats your boat!!!

Agree Rumster it's pretty lame! I like when the boaters do it, if somebody wanted to mug your spot all they have to do is follow you out of the marina, doesn't take too many brain cells to find the striper boats! Just look for 150 boats with about 120 of them having no clue what they are doing or how to use their tackle or equipment

How about a general description, like Raritan Bay? or Barny Bay - west side.

I fished late Sat night until sunrise in the back of Raritan bay.
Many bunker - it looks like it's about to bust open soon with larger fish but I didn't get any.

I'll be back at it tomorrow night. Most years the night bite starts Early April - back of Raritan.

Exactly. Keep it generic, but at least share ballpark info. Absent of that its just pounding your chest. Would have been nice to know what the fish were chewing on.

While it lacked detail as mentioned above, I personally dont mind the blacked out background!!! Save ur spots while there hot...no need to ring an alarm bell of where they are at all times....and ALL reports are chest beating, or else why do it online? How bout, " congrats, way to go, glad you found em!! " ?????

I'm with you Big and by the way, anyone who put in the their time knows that spot.

As far as report goes, general locations are helpful as are what the fish ate.

To each his/her own here and if we'd like to continue to see more people post fishing reports here, we shouldn't be brow beating them when they post one.

Thanks, nice catch and if you want more info and someone is willing to share it maybe a PM works better.

I'm good with the blacked out background. The way word spreads with social media it'd be a zoo in a few hours. Happened in Sewaren last year. First few days, like 5 guys fishing. Then one night, BAM!, elbow to elbow during a pandemic... It was asinine. Looked like polluted Montauk during the Fall run lol.

Keep what ya got to yourself, enjoy and avoid the crowds. As surf bound anglers we only have so much time until the linesiders are gone. If I can do it while avoiding a metal lip swimmer in the face thats even better!

I understand the OP's thoughts.. He's on the fish, and doesn't want to be mugged by 1000 site lurkers .

However, why bother even reporting if you aren't going to help out other members?..

I think we should always try and give out at least a few specifics for other guys. Many here do, I realize that.

I dunno,, why bother posting "yeah we caught a ton of fish" and let it go at that?...

Reminds me of the time where I saw a guy bailing big Lake Trout on jigs right close to me . Met him back at the ramp and said, man you were killing them, what kind of jig were you using?.. He dove on top of his rod so I couldn't get a look at the plain old Hopkins Shorty he was using. -whatever:rolleyes:

. Do we really need to be that close mouthed with each other?... Those schoolie stripers are mostly all being released anyway. I dunno, I guess I am too old school, and things have changed... bob

It's funny how crazy people get trying to save time looking for spots. Like the guys who follow around party boats all day long.

Instant success fishermen. :)

Guy's post was helpful enough - fish are in, fish are caught from shore - what more do you need?

People just want to be spoon fed these days, grown men bitching about someone else's photo bc they can't spy the background. This is some sad shit fellas.

Nobody could figure that out that location.

I find some of the justifications for not sharing generic info on the site funny. Personally, I rarely fish for Striped Carp anymore. But this site is only as good as the info shared. No one is looking to have their hand held and led to the promised land. And not everyone is about pounding their chest.. Thats just a little presumptuous. I share info, as do many others on this site, regardless if it was a good day or a bad day. But it seems that if your opinion does not justify being secretive, your either lazy or something else absurd. Guys, were not talking about secret numbers, long / latitude of some virgin wreck that holds countless double digit tog here. How about the members that can`t get out fishing anymore and they enjoy reading about whats going on. Not everyone is looking to steal, what someone perceives as their personal honey hole. Lets all try to not be the captin ahab of the site and respectively agree to disagree. Now, lets all catch em up. Good luck to all.

It seems orders of magnitude more odd to me that people have such a reaction to a redacted photo. Who cares? You're going to tell someone else what to post in their report?

I think you are also discounting the # of eyeballs on these threads, people who never participate and will never do any work to find fish will spend hours pouring through the internet for spots. But hey at least I understand that impulse; the urge to spot burn on a public forum remains a deep mystery to me.

No serious angler ever cried over a blurred out background, that's a fact.

No serious angler ever cried over a blurred out background, that's a fact..... They may not cry, but they certainly laugh....

It was not only about the blurred out background. There was little if anything in the original post to help anyone on the site... If you would like a clearer picture feel free to read the entire thread. In retrospect, I should have expressed my initial reponse differently... We all make mistakes...
Regardless, Not sure where you received your certification as a self imposed serious angler??? But, you really have to get over yourself.... After looking at your previous post history, I now understand your mindset and see how you like to take pieces of a thread to promote your position...

I appologize for having an opinion that differs from yours. Really, how dare I?I have only been fishing since the age of 5 with a bamboo pole for snappers, been washed off jettys twice in the middle of the night, caught 3 N.J DD fluke, 3 N.J DD tog, worked the deck on a head boat for a period of time and spent a month fishing in Panama.... Personally, it amounts to a hill of beans... But then again, I have seen and waited on more googans that proclaimed themselves as serious anglers, than can be recalled... I certainly do not have all the answers and niether do most of us on the site. Captains that fish for a living are under immense pressure and are only as good as the last day they caught. So, if most, certainly not all, can put aside their differences and work with 1 another for the most part, we should... They have their networks that provide info on when, where, depth, the current bite is on, as do I.... That is in conjuction with my own due dilligence...

Unfortunately, not everyone has access to that level of in depth information. So yes, if I can help somebody with some intel, I will.... Not looking to spot burn, just looking to help out others with some ball park info to stear them in the right direction. Not looking to catch the last goldfish in the mud puddle. And I am not afraid of an internet site devastating a fishery when most of the members are conscientious about presrving not only the rights of individual fisherman, but the preservation of the species they target. Lets all play nice in the sandbox.

You're 100% spot on. What's really pathetic is if he didn't blur out the background, this post wouldn't have 1 page of replies and you bet there'd be dozens of people there the following few days. Funny how the peanut gallery comes out when it's time to complain.

Raritan bay not that big. Everyone knows the fish push there first. If you're fishing from shore you can honestly hop from town to town within 30 minutes looking for the crowd if you're looking for that "hot-spot."

Do I agree with the blurred pic? No not really but pretty funny more than anything. I personally barely have time to post on a forum not to mention take the time to blur pics...

Everyone knows the bass are in the bay from April - May. Get a few guys in a small network and that's how reports are made. Not on social media. PS, if you put the time in and fish away from the crowds, there's fish to be had.... good luck all.

Joe, I appreciated the report. It provided me with all that I needed: the motivation to find the time to splash the boat, or at least dig out my waders. Maybe I'll see you out there!
