Had some free time and with the nice weather, couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a little night fishing. Got to my favorite spot around 6 and could see the water was high , but somewhat clean. Well, wasn't expecting much but gave it the old college try... and glad i did. First cast nailled a nice smallie about 20" . Fish hit at the end of the retrieve right at my feet. Thinking this could be the first cast curse but was pleasantly surprized a few cast latter. Something grabs my lure and is staying down, swimming up and down the hole. Could be a nice walleye? Nah fighting too hard. Could be a channel cat? ....maybe. after fighting the fish for a while, finally tired it out and brought it to shore. To my surprise, it was the biggest brown trout i have ever caught, and the first one i have ever caught on the delaware. PB brown trout and i am stoked...but like i said, i wasn't expecting much and left my phone in the car so no pics. Fish was a solid 22" i would say and just beautiful. More chrome than brown. I did end up catching another brown after i got my phone later that night. So 2 browns in one night on the delaware...freaking awesome. I'm no jdtune so this was a big deal for me.😀. Stayed a bit longer and was able to manage 2 short walleye, one 17 and one about 14. Missed 2 other hits. And called it a night at 10:30.
