Virginia Fluke regs. are staying the same and I believe MD & DE are also. 4 fish @ 16.5" and open all year. Cobia went from 3 fish to 2 per boat 40" with a shorter season and no gaffing.

Why not through us bone for a change, open it on the 22nd and let it go till the 28th for Christ sake!

I guess the extra days will kill Millions of fish.

The last few years, wasn't the fluking on the slower side the last week of the season, with the thought being that the fish had already started their move offshore?
Personally, I'd prefer an opening on the 22nd, but get the desire to bridge the gap with sea bass. Just don't know if the later closure and extra days would be worth it, if there's limited fish around to make the effort worthwhile.

That's true Captain Ron but the overkill will only be in fish less than one inch below legal min.

Summer flounder in Florida. Went from 10 to 5 bag
From 12 to 14 inches
And closed for around six weeks. First fluke closed season down here.

I think there's a direct correlation of September hurricanes and fluke migration. We got hit with four in Sept 2020. I recall the back bay going ice cold for me after the first or second one came and went; along with the finger mullet.

I still like the opportunity or chance to catch them for the table a bit later into Sept., though.
