My sincere condolences to the Hueth family for their loss. In particular Chris's wife, children and his brother Greg. To say I'm shocked and heartbroken by this news is an understatement.

May he rest in peace and the family like too many others this year will be in our thoughts and prayers.

They certainly did Dave. Chris was very involved in SSFFF as was Jeff Gutman and Dave Arbeitman. Chris's brother Greg is still the leader of that charge but is missing some good men.

I heard there's and an old Irish tradition on new years opening the back door of your home at midnight to let the old year out and your front door to let the new year in... Given the year we've all had we should probably open all the windows too..

Very sad news. I've known Capt Chris since we were in our twenties. Very hard, dedicated and good fishermen. He pulled no punches with anyone. It is tough to take in. It took the wind out of me when I heard. My heart goes out to his brother Greg --Chris's wife and children, his crew and customers. Belmar will not be the same without Capt Chris.

When I was a teenager (maybe 17 or 18), I auditioned as a mate on the Golden Eagle with Capt. Hueth. While this was a long time ago (I'm 51 now), I remember it like it was last week. My grandfather, Henry Schaefer of the Out in the Open, was very fond of Capt. Hueth and had much respect for him as a Captain.

Capt. Hueth went out of his way to give me a chance to work on his boat (while I did not realize it at the time, as a favor to my grandfather). Let's just say that it was quickly realized, by everyone involved, that I was much better suited at being a paying customer.

I fished with Capt. Hueth many times, and will always remember his enthusiasm and love for his work.

I was very sorry to hear this news, and may God Bless his family and loved ones.

Joe
