I've added Ad blocker and that doesn't work either!

Working on this with infolinks and waiting to her back from them... If I can't get a satisfactory answer soon I'll shut it down...

Just shut them down for now until they can get back to me with some reasonable fixes.

OK the fix is going live. You should only see 1 add per hour. If that’s not the case we let me know.

For an Android, download the free add blocker app and run it thru there. The app has a red symbol like a stop sigh. I'd ad a photo but this site is too difficult to post pictures with.
I had the same problem with the adds a few weeks ago and this fixed it.

GREAT FISH JOE!! Nice assortment of previous accomplishments!!

I'm pretty sure Gerry's not getting rich by attaching an add or two. I can remember him vowing to only use "pop-up" advertising in the event that his conventional fund raising could no longer tow the note to keep the site afloat. Be thankful we have this resource...Good job Gerry

Don't know how much revenue Gerry's generating with these pop-up ads nor do I care. It's his site, it's his business and should be of no concern to anybody else.
What we all should be concerned about if you enjoy NJF is the impact those pop-ups have on site traffic. If site traffic goes down, sponsorship goes down, sponsor revenue goes down, and ultimately the site goes down. I applaud Gerry listening to site members / sponsors and quickly making the change he did to limit the number of pop-up ads per hour. It started at 1, my experience now is it's up to 2. Don't know if anyone else is having the same experience. What I do know and have said previously in this thread is on a smartphone the inconvenience and interruptions of the pop-up ads don't detract but ruin the experience of logging into the site. One or two an hour is tolerable, if it reverts back to what it was initially people will go elsewhere. That happens and there won't be a site.
The comments made, for the most part, have been to provide feedback to Gerry regarding recent changes involving the ads. That feedback led to a good middle of the road solution which to Gerry's credit he acted on immediately. In today's instant gratification world, if the benefits associated with a site are outweighed by the inconveniences using it, the traffic will go away. So I'm not sure, "Just deal with it", is the best advice we can give site members, sponsors or Gerry if our intentions are to help him manage NJF.
Just my two cents.

Every other forum you go to you get ads, some are so bad it takes an extra long time to load the pages and others the ads are in middle of the threads of the post.
I belong to a lot of other forums so I see this first hand and as a result, I no longer visit some of them anymore since they are so over the top. Point here is I'm not going into this blindly. I think we have a decent compromise here since we limited the ad frequency to once an hour and they are not in the posts and they don't slow down how fast the pages load.
Thanks for all the feedback and your patience.. It really did help me a lot since I don't have all the different browsers and devices to know what the experience would be on all of them.

those other sites dont charge sponsors to to promote their business as this site does.
they make their revenue off the adds.
I know I was looking to once again be a sponsor here as I will be going back to running charters full time this summer.
The new pop ups are a PIA , and since many guys use their phones more often than their computer it def is an issue.
No one knows more than you that a site needs people posting as well as reading to keep the sites going.
No one will advertise here if the site isnt as functional as it once was.
Seems that the best posting on this site is now in the freshwater section, the salt water post have decreased dramatically the last year or two

Most sites have direct sponsor and push ads. As far as the posts dropping off here in the SW section they have but site views have not so people are still coming but not posting. Eg this post has been viewed over 2000 times in a very slow time of year.
A lot of people are posting on social media and we have a group Facebook page that has over 13000 members and only sponsors are allowed to promote their businesses there as well.
