The Gambler is catching good on striped bass today. I just spoke with capt Mike, who is fishing the Northern grounds. There is a little lull mid-day with the tide change but it should pick up again this afternoon. The bass are all different sizes, from small throw-backs to 35". We still have plenty of bonus tags aboard. Some big bluefish have been around, too.
The bass are mostly grabbing A-47 and 27s, hitting the bottom and retrieving all the way back to the top. Sometimes, the lure is just about back to the boat before the bass smack it. the lure color does not seem to matter, so long as it has a good action wiggle.
Weather looks good for tomorrow (still plenty of spots available) --but we are going to cancel for Saturday.
Our last Offshore sea bass trip was good, with some very big sea bass and lots of mixed sized porgies. We also landed some pollock, bluefish, pinfish and even a couple of big weakfish. We have room for this Tues night's offshore trip and upcoming thru December. Check our site.
Hope to see you aboard
