Hello everybody. This is me and I am a bassoholic.
https://m.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10223582768620141&id=1318162782&set=gm.3566792456743817&source=48

This year I was lucky enough to pursue striped bass as my main target. I fished hard and spent many nights surf fishing some pretty dangerous criminal areas. I had good nights with bass after bass, and I had dogfish nights. I was experimenting with various baits, such as clams, sandworms, lamb liver, chicken breast, squid and shrimp. All of those baits produced keeper bass but squid and shrimp outperformed them all and produced better fish, even a 45 inch bass back in October, when guys next to me using fresh bunker couldn't even catch a short bass. A few days ago I caught an extremely fat 35 inch bass that weighted 24 lbs. I posted a picture with a fish on a facebook and in a matter of minutes I started getting angry pm's. People were calling me liar for using supermarket bought shrimp and squid for bait, also for saying that all of my large bass were caught on a low tide at night, etc. Others wanted to know the spots were I fish. I received over a 100 pm's and had to block a lot of people. So to make the story short, my goal right now is to catch a 50lb bass from the surf using my baits of choice and to piss more people off. Good luck to all of you and stay warm. Thank you.

Nice work It has always amazed me how instead of going out and trying new things on their own people would rather play the wait and see amd then ask others where they were. Don’t get me wrong I don’t have a problem helping others out or providing info however if people want to be abusive they can go screw. Enjoy your new title I hope to take it from you one day.

My only question would be where do you find fresh squid. All I see in South Jersey is frozen.

call some fish markets in your area... they usually carry fresh squid most of the year. I know a bunch by me in middlesex and monmouth counties that carry fresh squid.

Bait and tackle shops--its easier for them to keep frozen boxes.

Try asian or seafood markets, they usually have fresh squid in stock.

Zman, consider people's unfounded rage a compliment. Many people can't wrap their heads around the fact that there are methods that work other than conventional wisdom. They immediately think you're lying about your techniques or your catches are fabricated. In other words, they're jealous and wish they could figure out what you're doing too be as successful as you've been. Instead of putting the time in or asking you to share what you're doing, they immediately question your catches and your integrity. The best example of that ever was Al McReynolds. If you don't know who he is look it up. Who knew catching a jumbo striper would change his life forever and not for the better.

Congrats on your success and use of non-conventional techniques to promote your arsenal. Great stuff!

The Asian Market in Plainsboro carries whole fresh squid if you are around the Princeton area.

That's right. Succeeding always brings out the lesser people- haters attacking.

They will criticize everything you do trying to tear you down with them.

You put the time in. That's what matters

Haters going to hate, it's what they do and what makes them tick. They hide behind their keyboards waiting for an opportunity to spread their misery on others and always assume the worst.

- You're holding 2 fish in that picture and the limit is 1 fish

- You kept that fish?

- No way that's 25 lbs

I guess that's one way to live your life....
