got an early start monday morning and planned on trolling my go-to spot for stripers but decided instead to follow boat traffic to the building fleet. arrived to some scattered birds diving and occasional striper swirls here and there. i'm thinking it's game on, hammertime!...nope. like other reports stated over the past few days of striper lockjaw, they were not buying what i was selling. after about 2 hours of trying everything and even different areas i had enough and decided it was time to go togging. tried a few areas and found one with life. nothing spectacular but managed a few shorts and one keeper. lots of swings and misses...thank god i'm not playing softball anymore.:p did hook up to a real nice one that came undone halfway up. also, epic amounts of bunker within a mile of the beach, nothing on them.
anyone who was out there know what those stripers were feeding on? i'm guessing it was a smaller type baitfish based on the size of the birds diving.
was also a little surprised at how far past the 3 mile line many boats were fishing. they must've been bluefishing :D
upon returning i was checked (they wanted to see boat registration and any fish in the boat) by 2 state troopers at the dock. they were quick and courteous, as always.
so all in all fishing wasn't spectacular but nonetheless a beautiful november day out with flat seas, calm winds and warm weather!

Your report is a mirror image of mine . Out to the candle stick area , birds working an occasional swirl and that was that . Massive schools of bunker in the bay . Fish were on them , but snag and drop didn't produce .

Seems like it has to be windy and rough for these Stripers to put on the feed bag. Thanks for the report.
