Unless there is a Spanish Mackerel over 4ft out there, I saw what appeared to be a King Mackerel get big air on the far side of the outer bar near Sea Girt this morning. Fish came straight up about 6ft and back down tail first barely making a splash. Got a clear view of its profile definitely a big Mackerel within a long cast off the beach.

Nice.
That would be a huge Spanish.
As you said, Kings grow much larger and so do Ceros.

Only way to tell for sure if it was a king or a spanish would be if you had seen either the lateral line or the coloration of the front of the dorsal fin.
Can definitely rule out a cero.

Cero macks range from Massachusetts to Brazil in the Atlantic and grow to over
15 lbs.

In the 80's we saw some cero mackerel around, but off the beach, nowhere near the surf
