Have a nine year old grandson who want to start fishing. I launch my boat out of rumsom municipal ramp. I know limit is only 2 wondeing if there is fall fishery in the navasink, shrewbury, and sandy hook bay where we have a shot at some fish. I guess,i would anchor up use a chum log with a two hook flounder rig with bead corn. Any thoughts would geatly appreciated. Age 75 and cannot remember the last time i went flonder fishing, probably late 60's early seventies. Thanks

I've given it a shot in the Shrewsbury and the west end of the bay at least once in the last couple of years.Chummed heavily without a bite. I did see a report this spring of a couple of flounder caught on the Port Monmouth flats . The Manasquan continues to yield fish near the Canal and deeper pockets.

You might not catch winter flounder this fall but that chum pot will definitely attract kingfish, little sea bass, and probably a small striped bass in those same spots.

You still have 7 days for fluke. Drift east on an outbound tide from Barley Point to the Shrewsbury.

Try pay as you go place in English Town . Fresh water but you can get him started without loosing interest. My two girl grand children love it.

Thanks for all the input, yes the moulders idea is a great one i'm thinking of doing that next saturday and also like the idea of using a chum log to attract other fish besides winter flounder. How has the snapper been this that could be another trip with the boat say through october.again appreciate the input....walt
