The fishing only got better after this front. We got south of it but still got wet. Keep your radar and radio on when the weather looks “iffy”. We were inshore, but something like this front, with a suspected tornado, can be deadly inshore or offshore. Before we left the dock, the weather report was for possible scattered showers.

Was anyone on the water in northern Monmouth County on Wednesday 8/19 when this came through?

I was well offshore watching my satellite weather and was surprised to hear how bad it was back here. Water spouts are real scary.

This is the same storm. Not what you want to see when you're in a boat.

Guy in a 21 foot CC dropped his anchor and let out abut 400 feet of line. That's how he handled it he said. Seemed non-plussed relating the story.

Looks like Perfect Storm. You George Cloony out there going uphill in a 10 knot tub? lol

Be careful guys. I had a tornado touch down three blocks from my house on Tuesday. Three blocks away roofs ripped off. Scary

That tornado in your video developed very quickly. It formed and dropped to the ground in seconds. We kept watching this storm as it crossed the beach area. I saw one cloud that had possibilities of forming into a funnel but it never did. I’m glad the lightning and hail passed us by.
Think about outriggers and antennas acting to lightning like waving a red cape in front of a bull. Let’s add one or two more lightning attractors that you might overlook.........nets, gaffs, and how about fishing rods that contain graphite! Take them all down and stow them. Lightning strikes to boats don’t happen often. Let’s keep it that way.

Very true.... Was out fishing trying to dodge a storm once and all of a sudden I noticed my brothers hair was standing straight up on his head and so was mine... I heard this buzzing sound and as strange as it sounds, there was this yellow/greenish glowing halo around the base of the antenna mounts on the hard top. Thankfully we got out of the area in a hurry and without incident but we probably waited too long.

Curious re the experienced boaters here if that is the right move?
I realize there are many factors including whether the boater can outrun the storm cell.
