Saturday’s Crabbin’! 8/8

It’s been a while since I did some crabbing. Hooked up the boat and headed out with my good friend Andre. I was pretty excited to get after em’ as it’s been about 20 years since my last outing. Lol! No traps just handlines. We did well considering I haven’t done it in a while. I dropped my fair share. It took me a minute to get the touch back. Spot 1 had all males and the tide was just starting to come in. We made a power move to the Great Wall to see if we could do some scooping but the wall was bare. Ahhhhhhhh, it happens! Checked on spot 3 and guys were getting a few but smaller females were dominant. Took the long haul back to spot one where we left them biting in the AM. It was a slow pick with the shorts being abundant but we put together a good catch by days end. By the time we were done cooking and eating it was 8:30 and we were toast. Haha! Good times with my good friend Andre. Those crabs are phenomenal man! Get em’ while the getting’s good. :D

Been dancing around the inlets and back bays as well recently. The action is solid in a lot of spots if you have the right bait. Lots of short Fluke as always. Hoping to get into a few more keepers now that it’s prime time in NJ. Managed to land 8 keepers so far from the banks of the salt but nothing huge. Some other catches include pounder Blues and a giant Cow nose that smoked my reel in 3 seconds flat out front. Jumped on the Sea Tiger last Saturday and had good action with shorts and a few keepers caught. It was fun randomly jumping on an afternoon boat. Good times had by all in the salt! TIGHT LINEZ!!!:D

How do you get the crabs to line up like that before cooking them??:D Crabbing has been great this year so far and should only get better.

Ahhh it only took 7 years to get on that boat...

But still no huge numbers but we made it work with what we had at least.
