Two trips two ski’s. Went out to a local lake for a nice late afternoon trip early in the month. Stuck a beauty an hour into fishing. Hit the river for the last time probably this summer because of water temps. Hit water early at 6:00 am and surface temp was 72. Starting working a nice weed line on a steep break and bam!!! Boatside strike!!. Puting away the lure box till at least September when water temps fall back down. I know there is a lot of debate on the subject, as 80 degrees is the accepted stop fish temp for muskies because of less dissolved oxygen at the surface. This being my first summer I’ve had enough fun and gonna let the big girls rest till fall. No point in pushing the envelope when there are plenty of other jersey giants to wrangle!! Looking forward to putting a rod in a rod holder and waiting for a flathead to come along or feel a nice smallie crush a jig on light tackle!!!

I’ve fished with your brother. I gotta fish with you at least once! Great fish and thank you for knowing when it’s time to give those beautiful Ski’s a break with the rising water temps. Your a knowledgeable angler and I appreciate your respect for the fishery! Good stuff as always!!!:D

Yea absolutely Eddie!! Just let me know, I can drop my info in your inbox. Thanx I appreciate that. We all gotta do our part to educate ourselves and other anglers to respect and conserve these amazing fisheries we have here in NJ. A lot of hard work ,by NJ fish & game and Hackettstown Hatchery, for these Pike, Muskie , walleye, and bass (to name a few) that we all have the privilege of enjoying. We all owe it ,to the anglers that taught us, to pass the knowledge on and keeps the love of fishing going!!!
